The safest source of supplemental heat for reptiles is here! The new 14"x21" Radiant Heat Panel from Sweeter Heater has gotten great feedback from reptile keepers. It features a black shell, lens, and cord, and a new size (14"x21") which mounts flush to a wall or ceiling. It is 92 watts and can easily be used with a thermostat.
These lightweight, unbreakable infrared heat panels are trusted industry-wide as reliable, easy to install, energy efficient, and consistent because it will stay at (or below) a safe heat level for your animal (meaning no hot spots or burns). Your energy bill will be spared, as these use far less electricity.
Features
-
Lightweight; designed to be mounted flush to a wall or ceiling and comes with brackets and screws for easy mounting.
- Rated at 92 watts of power. The 14"x21" model has almost 300 square inches of soft uniform infrared heat. It's not a space heater and will not feel hot like one. There are no hot spots; develops a uniform heat pattern.
- This is an infrared radiant heater, intended to heat the animal, bird or reptile underneath; however, it will trap ambient heat within enclosures. Ideal to use with a thermostat control within a reptile enclosure.
- The surface temperature of the lens will range from a safe 160-180 degrees (F) of radiant heat and will not burn your animals.
- UL certified. For added safety measures, it has a snap-action thermal control to ensure heaters turn off automatically when heat is not allowed to escape.
- The Sweeter Heater produces no noise or artificial light.
- Energy efficient: The average weekly energy cost to run daily (24x7) is $3.02.
- Uses less power to operate, is unbreakable, and is sealed for easy cleaning.
-
Designed and made in Wisconsin.
- Includes a 3-year warranty by Sweeter Heater.
More about Sweeter Heater
Radiant heat panels from Sweeter Heater are known for their quality: Each infrared panel develops a uniform heat pattern, uses less power to operate, is unbreakable, and is sealed so it can be washed. They are UL certified, assembled in the US, and have a 3-year warranty; a standard above the other RHPs available on the market.
The science behind the Sweeter Heater RHP is based on the principle of infrared radiant heat: The goal is to heat the animal, not the environment; therefore, the infrared rays are spread over the entire surface area of the panel and are evenly projected straight down in a uniform heat pattern with no hot spots or cold spots.
Reptile keepers love Sweeter Heater as an indestructible, cleanable, supplemental heat source for indoor or outdoor enclosures. We get great feedback from herpetologists, breeders, and hobbyists using Sweeter Heater to safely heat their snake tank or tortoise enclosure; they especially love the ability to raise or lower the panel height as needed.
Heater Information + Start Up
As with any electric heating device, special precautions must be taken: Allow a minimum of 6 inches of air space between the ground surface, bedding, straw hay or any combustible materials. Ensure that the panel's heat surface is open to air so the heat is allowed to escape and circulate; ensure the unit cannot be allowed to fall with its heating surface enclosed. Otherwise, severe overheating may occur which could result in combustion.
Note: The odor that is often noted on a new heater is from the escalated final drying of the lens material (fiberglass and adhesives), as the heat is applied. The odor is normal and will go away in a day or so as the new materials dry out. Very close examination of the lens sometimes reveals small hairline cracks that are created as the lens dries--this is also normal. All of the materials Sweeter Heater uses in the radiant heat panel are completely safe:
- Lens material: Common fiberglass fire-rated sheeting used in home + food industry.
- Shell: ABS styrene material (think refrigerator linings, toys + molded products).
- Insulation: Non-combustible EcoTouch Insulation utility blanket.
