In bioactive systems, custodians are used to clean up the waste from the enclosure. Of course, we as keepers still need to spot check regularly for feces and uneaten food, and the frequency of this will depend on the species and the size of the enclosure, but custodians help to break down any organic matter.

How to Use: Nothing is more potent or easy to use when it comes to feeding Custodians. EarthPro-CustodianFuel is simply pressed down into the substrate where it will break down and become a ‘nutrient rich soup’ from which invertebrates can feed. Every 7-14 days.
For those small species, including dart frogs and recently metamorphosed frogs and toads, springtails are also an excellent food source. For other reptiles, including leopard geckos and young bearded dragons or bosc monitors, to name a few, the larger custodians are also a supply of food.
