Over the weekend, our family enjoyed attending a ceremony and hike around a newly-reestablished woodland trail named in honor of Andy’s late grandfather.

“Chuck’s Loop” is a loop trail within Oliver’s Woods, a 70-acre river bottom woodland near the University of Oklahoma and managed by the Oklahoma Biological Survey. Chuck spent much time in Oliver’s Woods, beginning his first research there in 1953, a three-year marking project on box turtles (Terrapene), while teaching at OU.
We had a great time at the trail dedication. And our mini-herpers, Frank (six years old) and Jack (23 months old), were fascinated with the three-toed box turtle and brown snake found along the trail. For more details and images from Chuck’s Loop Dedication, click here.

The herps are out, let’s explore!
