The Herpstat 2 is an advanced digital reptile thermostat that lets you control two totally separate heating units at once. This temperature controller allows you to set the desired temperature individually for each heating or cooling device. Using the premium, steel-tipped sensor probes included with the device, this proportional thermostat constantly monitors and adjusts amount of heat necessary to maintain a target temperature for your reptile enclosure.
It can be used in conjunction with most heating devices for reptile enclosures, incubators, and vivariums: ceramic heat emitters, heat tape, heat pads, radiant heat panels, and most heat bulbs. As well as cooling devices.
The optional dimming mode makes the Herpstat 2 the best option to be used with incandescent heat lamps (bulbs that emit light) and deep heat projectors—you will save on costs over time from having to replace your basking bulbs, halogens, and DHPs less frequently.
Features:
- Proportional thermostat with selectable pulse or dimming modes.
-
Can be used for precision temperature control (heat or cool), lighting control, and even humidity control. Easily sits on top of your rack, cage, or incubator.
- Control up to 2 heating/cooling units. Comes with with two outputs, each with independent settings. (Three-prong grounded outlets are standard, assuring compatibility with most heating devices.)
-
Gentle startup feature to keep your heat elements from burning out prematurely.
- Temperature memory records high and low temperatures, even if there's power loss. Internal error detection shuts off heat if sensor fails or is disconnected.
- Built-in alarms to alert you of temperature extremes.
- Safety relay cuts power to all outputs if user settable conditions are met.
- Two premium, steel tip probes included and power cord. Optional humidity sensing probes are available.
- 500 watts max per outlet capacity. 900 watt total.
- 1-year limited warranty.
Herpstats are best-in-class reptile thermostat devices preferred by professional reptile keepers, breeder, and hobbyists for temperature precision. All Herpstat units are proportional thermostats with selectable pulse or dimming modes allowing for advanced temperature ramping to gradually increase/decrease heat over a set period of time. Can also be used in non-proportional (on / off) mode.

About Pulse Proportional Thermostats
These are more accurate and consistent than on/off units. Pulse proportional thermostats provide precise temperature regulation and efficient power usage, because they continuously take temperature readings in the vivarium and send pulses of energy to your heater that guide the vivarium temperature to your ideal level.
Since they avoid abrupt on/off cycles and provide precise control over the heat output, pulse proportional thermostats are the least likely to cause thermal stress on connected bulbs, making them suitable for heat lamps and basking bulbs, long strips of heat tape, UTHs, and heat emitters, in addition to most heating devices on the market.
Because pulse proportional thermostats are the most sophisticated, they are often more expensive than other types of thermostats. However, the cost will even out over time due to savings from replacing bulbs less often--plus, with many of the highly-coveted Herpstat thermostats, you can control multiple devices or vivariums simultaneously as most have multiple outlets and probes. Zoos, reptile breeders, and hobbyists with large snake collections especially love the features and precision that come with Herpstat temperature controllers.
