100% natural cork bark flats harvested from Portugal. Each piece is unique and some are slightly curved. Bean Farm cork bark flats are durable, light weight, rot resistant, non-toxic, soft, and buoyant.
Our large, premium quality cork bark flats range from 16"-26" in length, and measure anywhere from 4"-6" across. Each flat varies from 1"-2" in thickness.

Virgin cork can be used as natural terrarium background decor for reptiles, amphibians, plants, and invertebrate habitats. Zoos around the world use virgin cork bark flats to create safe habitats and durable solutions for larger inhabitants. Cork bark flats work well in humid terrariums as background panels to support plants growing on them--be sure to keep the surface moist during acclimation for best results.
Cork bark is a type of wood that holds up very well in most environments, from desert backgrounds to tropical, ranging from ultra dry to ultra humid. It is versatile because it can easily be trimmed and can be used as decor or incorporated into custom backgrounds and vivariums.
Virgin cork is the bark that comes from the cork tree the first time it is taken from the tree, when it is 30 years old. It's an environmentally and ecologically friendly renewable product. Virgin cork bark is an outstanding addition to a reptile, amphibian or invertebrate enclosure. We sell assorted pieces of flats that can be used as a display centerpiece, or for making vivarium or terrarium backgrounds, basking platforms, or hideouts in big enclosures.
Cleaning Tips: While our premium quality wood is stored carefully away from the public, we recommend cleaning and/or disinfecting wood decor (purchased here or anywhere) before adding it to your terrarium:
- Simply wash the cork bark by scrubbing it with a brush and water.
- For less bulky pieces, you can disinfect cork bark by boiling it. When necessary, under adult supervision, you can boil the top half of a piece first in a very large pot, then flip the wood to boil the bottom half.
- For larger or bulkier pieces, you can use a freeze/heat method but keep in mind baking wood decor is more dangerous than the recommended methods.
- Always dry out the wood completely before proceeding to add it to custom backgrounds with silicone.

I'm very happy with the piece I received! I sent an email with specific sizing requests for my project and was met with a prompt response assuring me that the piece they provided most closely matched my requests. The shipping was fast, I received it a week after my order. The cork round arrived very well packaged with paper neatly surrounding the piece, which I removed for the image. Cork round itself looks clean (no cobwebs, dirt, etc). The size is pretty much exactly what I requested! Only slightly longer, but that is reasonable and can always be trimmed down. Overall, highly, highly recommend. Great customer service and great product. Definitely keep these guys in mind for cork purchases.
